When choosing eyewear for archery the key feature should be that there is minimal visual obstruction in the centre part of the lens; ideally no nose piece/nose pads. In terms of lens colours, brown is ideal for outdoor use in bright sun and blue and turquoise lenses will help highlight the gold bull. An orange lens is good for outdoor use in overcast conditions; it’s also a high definition colour that will sharpen the field of vision. For indoor archery a yellow lens adds exceptional contrast which will help with artificial light.
The Pilla archery system was designed in tandem with World Champions Erika Jones, Braden Gellenthien and Martin Damsbo. Pilla has created a variety of frame geometries with no nose piece, providing the archer with no visual obstruction through the middle part of the eyewear. Additionally, all Pilla lenses are manufactured ZEISS and utilise state-of-the-art anti-reflective treatment, removing all glare. This eliminates all ‘visual noise’ from the archer’s vision, whilst consistent light into the eye means arrow impacts never vary. Pilla Zeiss lenses are widely regarded as the best sport-specific lenses available; optically perfect, their lenses are precise no matter where you look through the lens surface, with truly unrivalled visual acuity.
